SALT IN THE WOUNDS

Former Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone has rubbed the salt into the wounds of Arsenal by saying that it would be nice if the gunners failed to win any major trophy once again.

Arsenal have not won a major trophy for the last nine years and Huddlestone has seen this misfortune from close ranks when he was at Tottenham, who have managed to win the Capital One Cup during this period. Huddlestone has since completed a permanent move to Hull City where he is one of the important members of the squad.

The club reached the finals of the FA Cup after managing to beat Sheffield United 5-3 in the semifinals. This victory has set up a match against the gunners in the final of the competition at the Wembley stadium.

Huddlestone scored the important goal for the club in the 54th minute, as they were in danger of being knocked out by the League One outfit for most of the first half. Hull will be going into the FA Cup final as the underdogs, but Huddlestone is not worried about this status since he feels that this will actually suit his team.

Arsenal have reached the finals of major competitions during this period, but they have ended up with nothing.
“It would be nice to stop them from winning anything again. We know it is going to be difficult but it is a Cup final and it is probably the best place to be an underdog. We have shown against the big boys in the league that we can match them, although we probably haven’t got a lot of the results we deserve. But Liverpool are flying high at the top of the league and we have beaten them, so hopefully against Arsenal we can do the same,” said Huddlestone.
