CLUB AND COUNTRY

Hull City’s Tom Huddlestone has played in just about every single Premier League match for his club in the current season as he is an important player for the club of Steve Bruce but the same cannot be said for the England squad as he has not been featured for his country since 2012.

The mother of Tom Huddlestone, Maxine Huddlestone expressed her anger through twitter after the midfielder failed to appear in Roy Hodgson’s squad which played a friendly match against Denmark as well as not being named for their 2014 World Cup qualifiers which was played in October of last year.

“England squad ……same old same old” Maxine wrote through her twitter account.

The midfield of England is being tightly contested between Gerrard, Lampard, Cleverley, Wilshere, Milner and others. Tom Huddlestone will have to perform better and standout more than those players during the next few weeks in order for Hodgson to even consider calling him up and bring him to Brazil to represent his country.

Even though Tom Huddlestone has not been called up to represent England since 2012, he remains hopeful that things could change soon enough.

“I remain hopeful but, as I’ve said before, there have been times where I thought I might be able to sneak in and haven’t, There has also been a couple of times where I’ve thought I was miles away from the squad and I’ve managed to get in.” The 27 years old midfielder told the club’s official website.

Hull City’s coach Steve Bruce also has faith that Tom Huddlestone has a chance on getting into the plane to Brazil.

“He’s done very well this season. There’s always a bit of a shock when you expect to be included. I don’t think it’s over yet though. There is a still a lot of football to be played. He’s got to keep working and hoping something opens up for him. We all know he’s got the ability. He’s a wonderful footballer. He’s just got to keep plugging away and force his way on to the plane’’. Bruce revealed.
