MORE PATIENCE

The Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone has said that the fans should be a little more patience before they get to see the team play at the best. The club recently appointed the former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas as a replacement for Harry Redknapp, who left his position at the end of last season. The former Portsmouth manager helped the team finished in the fourth position twice in the last three seasons.

However, they have made a poor start to the season this time around under the new management. Even though they currently lie in the sixth position, the fans are extremely disappointed at the lack of the fast flowing football.

It was a trademark of the Harry Redknapp era due to the presence of excellent wingers in the form of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon. However, they have been slightly restricted under the new management, which has been the cause of concern amongst Spurs fans. Tom Huddlestone, who has been one of the impressive players for the club in recent weeks, has said that the fans need to show more patience because the players are still getting accustomed to the new style of management. Tottenham lost in the most surprising fashion to Wigan Athletic at home during the weekend.

“It is hard for the fans. They have watched some good football over the last four years in the gung-ho style. I think now they have got to be patient. The manager is still trying to get his ideas across and the lads are still getting fully used to what he wants us to do. A lot of it is on rigid team shape, whereas under previous regimes the initiative has been given to the players to express themselves,” said the defensive midfielder ahead of the match with NK Maribor in the Europa league.
